The recipient is a leader in promoting awareness of ethical and social issues in computing. The recipients of this award and the award itself encourage responsible action by computer professionals.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is a once-in-a-lifetime award, which goes to (at most) one person per year.<\/p>\n<p>ACM has printed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sigcas.org\/awards-1\/awards-winners\/sigcas-making-a-difference-award-2009\">a biographic summary t<\/a>hat highlights the work that led to this award.
